Britax Strollers Being Recalled Due To Finger Amputation Hazard

If you bought or received a Britax stroller within the last three years, you may be in danger of losing a finger, or at least seriously damaging it. The Britax B-Agile, B-Agile Double and BOB Motion strollers were all recalled because of a partial finger amputation hazard.

The recall says that a hinge on the stroller’s folding mechanism may cause a partial fingertip amputation, a broken finger, or multiple finger lacerations, as well as other injuries, when tugging on the stroller’s release strap. So far, eight incidents have been reported to Britax, which included several finger lacerations, one partial fingertip amputation and one broken finger.

Approximately 216,000 Britax strollers have been recalled in the United States, along with 8,800 in Canada, as the defective products were sold from March 2011 – June 2013. The strollers were sold online and at major retailers for $250 – $450. Here are a list of the model numbers being recalled: (B-Agile) U341763, U341764, U341782, U341783, U361818; (B-Agile double) U361818, U361819; and (BOB Motion) U391820, U391821, U391822.

If you or someone you know owns one of these models, stop using it right away, and contact Britax to receive a free repair kit, or visit their website for more information.

This is not the first product recalled by Britax. In November of 2012, Britax issued a voluntary recall of 60,000 car seats, due to a choking hazard.
