In this week’s edition of ‘Mass Tort Minute,’ Chris Placitella discusses the most recent defective product lawsuits that reached settlements.  It was a good week for customers in defective product suits, with major settlements including: Johnson & Johnson handing down $3.35 million and $7.76 in punitive damages in a defective pelvic mesh case.  Apple agreeing to pay $1 billion to customers whose children downloaded apps from the iTunes store without permission.  Toyota agreeing to pay $1 billion to settles sudden acceleration lawsuits and settling a different case alleging it misled customers about product safety for $29 million with the Attorney General.  Merck paying $688 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it issued misleading statements about the drug Vylorin.
