The Pacific Business News (9/21, Subscription Publication) in its “Morning Call” blog reports Hawaii’s Health Department is “launching a new system that will place placards in restaurant windows to let patrons know about food safety violations.” The system will “‘use a green pass’ card for restaurants that have had one major violation or less that has been corrected, a yellow ‘conditional pass’ that means a restaurant has had at least two major violations that are yet to be fixed, and a red ‘closed’ card that means the restaurant’s food permit was revoked because of immediate danger and that the business has been shut down until further notice.” The Department is also “launching a new system that will eventually allow the public to access food inspection reports online.”
